Starsol Ltd offer a specialist website development package for both primary and secondary schools in the UK. In addition to professional website design for your school, we have developed a powerful, yet easy-to-use content management system allowing website pages to be added or updated instantly with minimal technical knowledge required. Any bespoke features required can be created by our specialist development team, however most commonly desired facilities have already been developed, including the following:

Manage as many or as few pages of your website as you like, either using a what-you-see-is-what-you-get editor or by directly editing the HTML code.
Option of deploying either our intelligent website navigation bar, hard-coded navigation, or a combination of the two.
News area, including automatic RSS feed generation, allowing the posting of relevant new information about your school.
Contact form with captcha code to help prevent spam.
Advanced gallery area allowing uploading and managing of photographs and other images to be displayed on your website.
Upload unlimited video clips and make them available to visitors by your choice of attaching them to pages, a video search facility, a video directory, or a combination of the three.
Intelligent search facility allowing visitors to simultaneously search all areas of your website, or if preferred only selected areas .
Offer visitors the option of registering for your website, subscribing to a mailing list, completing questionnaires and more.

Online School Shop

For an additional cost, our school website package can be easily integrated with our e-commerce package, allowing you to sell uniforms, stationery and any other relevant items through an online school shop.

Pricing

We can tailor a package to suit any budget, however the following is an example of an entry-level package available for £1500 plus VAT:

Installation and one-site license of our core school website software as described above.
Consultancy service to determine what website features are most appropriate for your school, either in-person, by telephone or by e-mail*.
Professional website design, either to your specification or we can advise as to what is most suitable in the context of your school*.
Development and deployment of any required custom features*.
One year of our standard hosting package on one of our reliable servers, including professional installation of an SSL certificate if needed,
Registration and management of the .COM or .UK domain of your choice (subject to availibility) for one year. Other TLDs may be available on request.
Hard copy of a complete user guide, explaining how the tools in the content management system can be used.

* Up to 30 hours total time spread as necessary over these points.

Technical Information

The main website (front-end) and content management system (back-end) are powered by PHP scripts using a MySQL database, all of which have been developed from scratch by Starsol Ltd and are not available anywhere else. The source code output by the software is comprised of XHTML, CSS and JavaScript (including some AJAX features). We use SWSoft Plesk for managing website hosting accounts, Apache server software and the Linux operating system on dedicated servers in state-of-the-art datacentres in the United Kingdom and United States of America. Starsol are members of Nominet the the internet registry for .uk domain names, and can offer UK domain registration and management services. For global domain names we are able to resell domains through the Starsol Domains website, and can manage any domains registered on your behalf.
